I'm usually pretty interactive on the comment sections of these blog posts. I love the back and forth, give and take. I don't get out much, seriously. So this is where I do my socializing. I appreciate everyone who chimes in regularly or once in awhile, and I hope some lurkers will give us a shout now and then.
The past two days, you may have noticed, I didn't hold up my end of our conversations. So sorry! Library work aside, I had to organize and calculate taxes for the entertainment side of my life. Complicated, time-consuming. But as of today, that's done. I've also been researching blog sites and blog templates. You're right, Lynn. There are a lot of templates out there. I found one I really liked and tried to upload it to my blogspot (blogger) site. It uploaded, I mean the picture was there, but there were no posts or links... all things I'm guessing I need to add by way of HTML codes. I tried to learn a bit about those and ended up giving up. I can learn, but it will take time--something I don't have right now. The entertainment taxes are calculated, yes. Mailed, yes. But I still have to calculate my writer taxes. I have a proposal due to Harlequin at the end of March. And at this point have five months to write my next western for Medallion. There's a vacation (thank goodness) and the RT Conference in that time frame as well.
So... I'm thinking I may have to buckle and hire someone to create my new sophisticated blog. I'm leaning toward wordpress and I found a designer who seems pretty reasonable. Her portfolio was quite impressive. I hope to contact her later next week to talk about cost and design. In the meantime, my upgraded service with Bravenet ends very soon and since their price went up and I'm not going to renew, you'll have to put up with those ugly advertising banners up top for awhile. I do apologize.
I'm not sure, but I may be without Internet service and therefore unable to blog for the next three days. If that's the case, when I come back, I'll be more chatty about writing and some fun news I just learned regarding the RT conference. Less focus on taxes and HTMLs.
In the meantime, check out J.A. Konrath's post on "Relax, Don't Do It". My answer to 13 out of the 17 things listed is either zero or almost zero. So I guess that means I'm a writer who writes, which is good, but it also shows me how little I do to fill the creative well, and that's bad. Word of the weekend: BALANCE
